Perhaps you can not seem to write anything but your own neuroses because subconsciously
those happen to be the most pressing issues. There will always be wars, economies, and
politics, with their idiosyncrasies -- but there will only be one of you, with yours.

Give yourself time to absorb --- London tends to fuck people up.

It'll pass. Then it'll come back again.

Ah, Lush! My God, talk about sense association . . . if I walk into a Lush now, I'm brought back instantly.

An hour and a half? You talked for an hour and a half in a Lush? He didn't get in trouble!? There's no way it wasn't busy in there . . . I sort of picture you following him around as he did Lush duties, stocking soaps, looking over his shoulder at the register . . . :-P.

I'm kidding. I must know more about this.

I am terribly attracted (not in a ((necessarily)) sexual context) to any person who believes in something, has reasonable support for that belief, and also is willing to listen to new ideas and experiences. I'm sure I'm singing to the choir right now, but I haven't yet gotten tired of hearing any new person's ideas, because, more importantly than interests or upbringing, it reveals how deeply they have explored their own belief systems and foundations.

In other news, I am stoked to be seeing you in three days!

Yes. Cleaning works wonders.

So does watching frivolous movies and being outside.

Also, here's something I found on another friend's blog. I'm planning on making some sort of artwork revolving around this that I can hang in my (new apartment?). It's humorous and lovely:

English author Sydney Smith, in a letter to his unhappy friend, Lady Morpeth, offered these tips for cheering up:
(1820)

Don't be sad, Lady Morpeth. Don't be sad, You.

1. Live as well as you dare.
2. Go into the shower-bath with a small quantity of water at a temperature low enough to give you a slight sensation of cold - 75 or 80 degrees.
3. Amusing books.
4. Short views of human life - not further than dinner or tea.
5. Be as busy as you can.
6. See as much as you can of those friends who respect and like you.
7. And of those acquaintances who amuse you.
8. Make no secret of low spirits to your friends, but talk of them freely - they are always worse for dignified concealment.
9. Attend to the effects tea and coffee produce upon you.
10. Compare your lot with that of other people.
11. Don't expect too much from human life - a sorry business at the best.
12. Avoid poetry, dramatic representations (except comedy), music, serious novels, melancholy, sentimental people, and everything likely to excite feeling or emotion, not ending in active benevolence.
13. Do good, and endeavour to please everybody of every degree.
14. Be as much as you can in the open air without fatigue.
15. Make the room where you commonly sit gay and pleasant.
16. Struggle by little and little against idleness.
17. Don't be too severe upon yourself, or underrate yourself, but do yourself justice.
18. Keep good blazing fires.
19. Be firm and constant in the exercise of rational religion.
